Trains between Hyderabad and Hampi

[#train]Two trains - The Hyderabad-Kolhapur Express (Train No:11303) and Hyderabad - Vasco/Hubli Express (Train No:17603) - run daily via Hospet Junction - are the ideal train options to travel from Hyderabad to Hampi.

Hospet Jn (station code : HPT), officially called Hosapete, is the nearest railway station for Hampi (14km from the Hampi village).

On Thursdays you have one more train, the Goa bound Hyderabad Vasco Da Gama express (Train No. 17021). This train too stops at Hospet Jn.

Vasco Da Gama Express is day train to Hospet, the other two daily expresses are overnight trains from Hyderabad to Hospet.

Train No17021 and Train No 11303 starts from Hyderabad Deccan station (HYB) . Train No 17603 starts from Kacheguda (KCG).

The Kacheguda - Vasco/Hubli Express (Train No:17603) is a 'slip route' train, meaning some coaches of this train is attached to another train heading in the Hospet direction.

You may find the train name different - Amaravati Express (Train No. 17226) and Howrah Express (Train No.18048) - while booking the return journey from Hospet (HPT).

If you are ok to change trains, Guntakal Jn is the transit point. Many trains to Hospet Jn pass via Guntakal.

Hyderabad to Hampi by Road

[#road]Hyderabad → 100km (on NH44) → Mahbubnagar → 107km (on NH167) → Raichur → 85km (state highway 23)→ Sindhanur → 50km → Gangavathi → 25km → Hampi

Once reached Gangavathi, make the suitable diversions to your final destination.

Diversion 1: Gangavathi → 10km → Anegondi
Diversion 2: Gangavathi → 16km → Virupapur Gadde
Diversion 3: Gangavathi → 12km → Bukkasagara → 8km → Kamalapura → 4km → Hampi

Hyderabad to Hampi by bus

KSRTC operates many daily services (7 to 10 hours travel time) between Hyderabad and Shimoga, via Hospet. Types range from Airavat (luxury Volvo bus) to Sarige type (express).

Most of these buses travel via Raichur and Gangavathi before reaching Hospet. Get down at Kamalapura Village that will appear after Gangavathi and before Hospet.

Check with SRE Travels. They operate daily overnight AC Sleeper bus (Volvo) service to Hospet from Hyderabad.

Hampi's guesthouse locale and sightseeing starting points is just 4km auto rickshaw ride from Kamalapura.

Or, if your hotel is the KSTDC Mayura Bhuvaneswari or Clarks Inn, both at Kamalapura, you can walk to the hotel from the highway side where the bus dropped you.

If your hotel is at Hospet town, get down at the bus station area in Hospet. You'll have to return to Hampi (about 10km) for visiting the sites.

Bus fares are around ₹500 for nonA/c and ₹800 for AC (Volvo type) ticket. AC Sleeper bus ticket cost around Rs1000+.

Hyderabad to Hampi flight connection

[#flight] Jindal Vijaynagar Airport (VDY) is a small airport near Hampi (35km from Hampi) with flights to Hyderabad and Bangalore (BLR) operated by TruJet.
VJD - HYD flight is about about an hour. Fare are typically in the range of Rs2000 - Rs3000. Search for flight number 2T-623 ( HYD to VJD ) and 2T-623 (VJD to HYD) . You can book the flight tickets at Yatra, Cleartrp, Makenytrip etc. Keep in mind to arrange private transport from Jindal Vijaynagar Airport to Hampi.
