esvantpur-Karatagi Express is a less known train to travel to Hampi. This train travel via Hospet Jn (HPT), the nearest railway station for Hampi.[#1] Convenice This daily overnight train from Yesvantpur to Karatagi is an additional travel option to Hampi, if you could not get a reservation in the relatively faster Hampi Express.
[#2] Timing Karatagi Express leaves Yesvantpur (YPR) by 8.25pm and arrives Hosapete Jn, next day morning by 7.50am. Hampi Express on the other hand leaves by 10pm and reaches Hospet about a hour earlier than Karatagi Express. Very similar convenient timing is followed in return journey also.
[#3] Route Karatagi Express follows the Arsikere Jn route, making it very convenient option for visitors from this side (Tumkur, Durg, Chikjajur etc) of the route to travel to Hampi.
This is actually a small train with just 3 sleeper coaches and 4 unreserved coaches. And there is one 3AC coach as well.
Karatagi Express is a relatively slow train with many stops (28 stops till Hospet)
Also this is a slightly expensive route for Hampi, as the route distance is about 130km longer than the Hampi Express route.
