Vijayanagara

his is the name of the ancient capital that's now popularly called Hampi. Vijayanagara literally means the “City of Victory”. Interestingly the its power of influence - spanning a greater part of the peninsular India during its peak - was also called Vijayanagara Empire.

Though the edifices of Vijayanagara period is scattered across many parts of South India, the highest concentration of monument are still around Hampi.

These Vijayanagara monuments at Hampi (see also : Hampi in a nutshell ) is one of the many UNESCO World Heritage Centres in India.This is a popular archeological, tourism as well as a religious site of Karnataka state.
