Bicycle & Moped rentals : One of the best ways to explore Hampi is to use a two wheeler. Rent one from the many rental shops in Hampi. Please keep in mind Hampi ruins are spread over a large area. You may not be able to take your two wheeler to some of the locations ( for example a hilltop shrine). Hampi's Weather : Hampi’s climate is generally dry & hot. March to early June is the summer. Monsoon brings some wet weather that typically lasts from late June to early August. The colder period of the year is from November to February. Irrespective of the climate, Hampi is open for visitors all round the year. Souvenirs : Hampi has some unusual suspects in its list of Souvenirs for the visitors. The jewelry and embroidered textiles of the nomadic Lambani people steal the show. Overwhelmingly decorated they themselves are the Lambani people and their merchandise would never fail to attract ones attention. The rows of shops near the Virupaksha Temple displays and sell these items. Saturated colored fabric pieces are collaged to make shawls, wallets, shoulder bags, skirts and even bedspreads. As if the flashy colors are not loud enough to attract attention, mirror pieces and smooth cowry seashells are skillfully hand-woven on to it. The designs are mainly feminine in theme.
