Yesvantpur Jodhpur Summer Special Train

I

ndian Railways has introduced a pair of special summer trains between Jodhpur in Rajasthan to Yesvantpur Jn ( near Bangalore). The happy news is the trains pass via Hospet . So people heading towards Hampi , especially from Maharashtra , here is a direct train for you.

The only disadvantage is that the up train ( Train No.0674 Yesvantpur Jn- Jodhpur Jn ) reaches at an odd hour of the night ( 2.25 AM ) at Hospet Junction. Hospet is not big railway station to have plenty of auto & taxi service at that time of the night. Or hope that there would be a few autos waiting for the YPR-Jodhpur Express passengers. If not you may have to wait in the railway station for a few more hours till the daybreak. The second point will be about looking for hotel accommodation during the midnight hours, although there are many hotels a couple of kilometers away from the railway station.

You’ll face the same dilemma if you are using this train (Train No.0674 Yesvantpur- Jodhpur ) for your journey out of Hampi . In other words, if you are traveling towards Jodhpur from Hospet by this train you need to reach Hospet railway station by midnight to catch this train.

The drawback apart, the advantages of this pair of summer special trains are many. Most importantly, this train offers a direct connection with Hampi for the visitors from Pune , Mumbai , Surat , Ahmedabad and beyond .

Yesvantpur- Jodhpur summer special (No.0674) starts from Yesvantpur on Sundays. That means you can book this from Hospet only for Mondays. Another option is to book your return journey by the Garib Nawaz Express ( Train No.6532). This train too follows almost the same route and schedule of the No.0674 Yesvantpur- Jodhpur summer special train. But the Garib Nawaz Express terminates at Ajmir instead of Jodhpur. Garib Nawaz Express starts from Yesvantpur Jn on every Fridays (5.35 PM ) and reaches Hospet on Saturdays 2.25 AM.

On the reverse side, the Jodhpur- Yesvantpur train reaches Hospet by 8.15 PM - not as bad as the return journey time. However if you are from Mumbai ( Kalyan) – Pune section of the route , the train reaches your boarding station at some odd hours .

By the way those who are coming from Goa too can opt for these trains, if you don’t mind Londa Jn as your boarding station.

The Yeswantpur - Jodhpur special service (Train No. 0674 ) commences on 5 April 2008. The last of the special service would be on 29 June 2008 from Yesvantpur .

In the return direction, Jodhpur - Yesvantpur (Train No. 0673 ) train service departs from Jodhpur of Wednesdays starting from 9 April 2008 . The last of this summer season’s service from Jodhpur will be on 2 July 2008.

The train have a AC 2 Tire, two AC 3 Tire coaches, 14 Second Class sleeper and two second class coaches.
