[#train] There is one direct train to Hampi (Hosapete Jn) from Chennai. If you don't mind a break journerney, there are couple of more workable train connections.
[#1]Direct Train Take the Chennai - Hubli Express (Train No:17314) from MGR Chennai CTR station and get down at Hosapete Jn (HPT). This biweekly train operates on Thursdays and Saturdays.

he pro side of this option is, its a direct train for Hampi from Chennai. The con side of this train option is its arrival time at Hospet Jn ( 1.45AM). Plan to check in at one of the hotels next to the railway station ( Hotel Hampi International, Royal Orchid Central Kireeti etc are walkable from the railway station).[#2] Next best option is Haripriya Express. Take any train (or bus) to Tirupati from Chennai (~3 hours journey). Board the HARIPRIYA EXPRESS (Train No:17415), the night train from Tirupati to Kolhapur via Hosapete Jn. You can board Haripriya Express from Renigunta Jn (RU) as well.
[#3]On a Wednesday or Friday, take the direct train back to Chennai. Hubli-Chennai Express (Train No:17313) from Hosapete Jn leaves Hospet by .

[#auto]From Hospet railway station, you can reach Hampi by the local bus or Hire a auto-rickshaw directly . Hampi ruins is about 13 kilometers from Hospet town. Hospet railway station and bus stand are about 2 kilometers apart.

[#flight] Fly to Bengaluru (BLR). Take the connection flight to Jindal Vijaynagar Airport (Code : VDY). It's a 1hr flight. Hampi is 35km from the airport.
